Manx Paddle Sports Canoe Club was set up in 2001 to enable Juniors and Seniors to represent the Isle
of Man at the Inter Celtic Water sports festival in Brittany. Since then we have visited Ireland, Galicia, Cornwall and Scotland to compete in sea kayak races, kayak polo and sprint racing. Recently members have entered the Devises to Westminster ultra marathon and out team has won the 95 mile Cheshire Ring race for the past two years. We have visited Norway for the past three T.T. weeks and this year paddlers are heading up to the Isle of Skye and making the annual pilgrimage to surf on the west coast of ireland.
Our main aim remains to get pupils from all of the Island's schools into kayak racing by holding monthly meetings on the Mooragh Park Lake and a Christmas slalom and to assist pupils in their Duke of Edingburgh awards. Throughout
the year seniors are to be found surfing and sea kayaking every weekend and often midweek when there is sufficient daylight. Membership of the club allows you to use club boats and offers insurance coverage whilst on club trips. The club appears to be the only club on the Island affiliated to the British Canoe Union through which access agreements are made and representation is made for Kayaking at Sport England. We also benefit from coaching, child protection, and other safety initiatives.
We only charge a minimal membership fee of £5 for Juniors, £10 for adults and £15 for families.
Membership currently stands at 35 adults and 20 juniors
